Spirit King Festival - Feb 15, 2020
The Snow King annual masque parade is coming up and GKHAT athletes are invited to participate. The event runs on February 15, 2020 from 6:45 pm to 10:00 pm. Marcel Cholo is looking to encourage participation by the GKHAT folks in this event. To show interest, please RSVP on the GKHAT calendar using this link. Remember to log in first!
Here's the outline for Snow King: There are random acts that are connected to a different theme every year- this year the theme is water. Bill Usher is the creative director and he collects the random acts and puts their storyline into beads. These beads are strung together to form a necklace of stories that are all connect by the theme. Bill then writes a script and narrates the whole act from beginning to end.
Kids will be performing with Marcel for Act I, the Intro act. Marcel will be the river spirit and long hair (like Chinese dragon tail) in which several people behind and will follow him procession holding up the hair (these people will be spaced out evenly and following me while holding my hair up with bamboo poles). The hair is to represent the confluence of the Kicking Horse River/Columbia River/Blaeberry River .
The GKHAT kids can attend with little effort. Ideally, you would wear you blue GKHAT jack or another blue jacket. If you don't have a blue jacket, don't sweat it. The GKHAT kids will then follow behind the head of the water spirit and move back and forth through my hair while walking around the perimeter of the bon fire to a set song that will be played upon our entrance.
The more the merrier! It's an easy fun event for all the GKHAT athletes to participate in! So please join us.
We'll contact you after you RSVP as more information comes.
