Dear parents and families,

This evening, a difficult decision was made to cancel GKHAT's race and banquet events this weekend. This decision was made in order to assist public health efforts to deter the spread of COVID-19 and aligns with recommendations from the BC Ministry of Health to limit large gatherings of people. Additionally, with Saturday's weather forecast calling for temperatures below -20 at KHMR, we are not able to offer any programming that day.

While we are deeply disappointed not to be able to hold these highly anticipated events this year, it is important to put the health of athletes, their families and community members first.

We support the following statement by Alpine Canada:
"Due to ongoing and evolving concerns surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Alpine Canada, in consultation with its provincial and territorial partners, recommends the cancellation of all domestic ski races planned for the remainder of the ski season.

In keeping with health advisories from the Government of Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), and after consulting with medical professionals, we are prioritizing the health and safety of our community, fans, athletes, staff, and volunteers involved in these events."

Friday training and Performance 60 programming will run as planned for this weekend. The AGM will still be held on March 15th.

Please stay tuned early next week for an update regarding whether Spring Camps will be held.

RSVP's for this are extrodinarily low. As a ski club, parent engagement is critical to success. Please do come out and be actively engaged in your athletes sport.
