This year we are accepting payment by e-transfer or cheque. Please communicate with us any issues regarding payment at info@gkhat.ca. Timely payment is important to allow hiring of coaches before the season begins.

GKHAT Auction: A Call for Committee Members

GKHAT’s annual online auction is happening this month!
All families must provide at least one item.

Auction items must be received by the club on or before November 11th.
Donate an item for the auction, or better still, get sponsorship from a company or vendor. Be creative! Any item or service that is ski or non ski related is welcome. If you know of a company that would like to actively sponsor GKHAT, please contact us at info@gkhat.ca

Follow these links to get a letter for Golden and Area or for Calgary and Area to print off and give to businesses you request donations from. If you need a letter for sponsorships, please use this letter.
When you are ready to submit your auction items, please enter them with description on the website link here

If you would like to help out with this year’s silent auction, please contact sshort@gkhat.ca
Do you have questions about the silent auction? Please read our GKHAT auction Q and A here.

RCR Season Passes and Waivers

GKHAT recommends that you connect with RCR to process your season pass quickly. Be sure to complete the RCR waivers.

This is particularly important for families that would like to take advantage of Nakiska, as your season pass will work there until Kicking Horse opens up.

If you have not yet received an email from RCR regarding your pass and waivers, be sure to contact them.

New for 2020: Ski Cross Course

While 2020 has brought many changes to the town of Golden, there is no doubt that in the next few months, the snow will fly and we will be turning our attention to the ski hill for some much deserved fun and escape. To add to the anticipation of the 2020 ski season, GKHAT is excited to be building a brand new ski cross course opening this season.

What is Ski Cross, you might ask?

Picture four skiers racing head to head through a course peppered with jumps, rollers and berms, hustling to make it first past the finish line in order to advance to the next heat of racing. Ski cross involves technical skill, strategy and quick thinking through each and every run. Canada is a world leader in this fast paced sport with many World Cup crystal globes and Olympic gold medals earned as the sport becomes increasingly popular.

GKHAT has been lucky to have past and current Team Canada athletes, Dave Duncan and India Sherret, work with our skiers on a small introductory course over the past two seasons. Now that our athletes have caught the ski cross bug, we are thrilled to roll out a full sized course coming for this season.

Many thanks to all the local players who have worked hard to make our big dream of a Ski Cross Course come true: Thank you to CBT and Dogtooth Construction for contributing the funding and machines needed to move all that dirt. Shout out to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort for your close partnership and incredible support; to our freeride sister organization GnAR for being involved in the grant process. We could not keep things rolling without our GKHAT parent volunteers showing up on event and race days. Finally, a big shout out to India Sherret and Dave Duncan for your incredible gift of time and mentorship to GKHAT.

GKHAT registration kicks off towards the end of September; come and be a part of the action in 2020!

BC Alpine Waivers

Once you have registered, BC Alpine waivers need to be completed for all skiers in your family. To complete your waiver, go to bcalpine.com and click on “Member Login”. It’s located in the center left of the page. When you sign the waiver, be sure to complete it for yourself and all the athletes. In this case “yourself” is the primary parent that you assigned the parent insurance to. If you encounter any problems, please email registrar@gkhat.ca to get help. These must be done before your child can ski!

Flapjack Fundraiser

Fill your skiers’ bellies with flapjacks from Lanni-Rae Gourmet this winter while supporting GKHAT! Our club has the opportunity to order these delicious pancake mixes as a fundraiser. They make great gifts and stocking stuffers for Christmas. Order between November 1 and 15; 30% of sales will go towards the club this year.

Anyone can use the website and GKHAT’s code KICK2020 code to purchase online.

  1. Visit the website here here and enter your order

  2. Use the code KICK2020 at checkout

  3. Enter your athlete’s first and last name at checkout for distribution

All mixes will be available for pickup in Golden or Calgary before Christmas. If you are having any challenges with the order process, please email rlaurell@gkhat.ca or info@lannirae.com
