COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

As a result of the ongoing changes in provincial requirements, and in the interest of safety for all participants of the GKHAT program(s), the GKHAT board has approved the following policies:
  • Coaches: All GKHAT coaches will require proof of vaccination. Vaccination adds an extra layer of protection for coaches and athletes for situations where it is not possible to physically distance/mask while working with athletes.
  • Parents/Volunteers: All parents participating on-snow and in close proximity to athletes will require proof of vaccination, for the same reasons stated above. This will apply to tail-gunners (mini and otherwise), and some race volunteer positions where social distancing from athletes is not possible or lift sharing is required.
  • Athletes: Athletes will not be required to provide any proof of vaccinations. Due to the large number of ineligible athletes, we feel that this is difficult to implement and mandate.
Proof of vaccination is considered to be one of three options:
  • Proof that you have received both vaccinations as recommended by the province.
  • Proof of a medical exemption.
  • Proof of a negative COVID test with the previous 72 hours to participation
Please note we welcome all athletes in the program regardless of parental vaccination status and we will be happy to provide volunteer opportunities which do not require parental vaccination.

These policies may change during the season due to the evolving pandemic, provincial sport and BC Alpine guidelines as well as board discretion regarding club safety. We will communicate any changes to the above policy as promptly as possible.

Thank you for your support during this challenging time in youth sport.

GKHAT Auction

It’s Fall and registration for the season is closed, which means it is time to be thinking about our upcoming online auction. All families must provide at least one item ($100 in value) for the auction. Donate an item for the auction, or better yet, get sponsorship from a company or vendor whom you support. Be creative! Any item or service that is ski or non ski related is welcome. Follow these links to print off (or copy and paste into an email) an auction letter for Golden Area or for Calgary and Area to give to businesses you request donations from. For items that you are providing, please contact fundraiser@gkhat.ca.

Do you have questions about the online auction? Please read our GKHAT auction Q and A here. We are happy to provide support and suggestions to anyone having trouble coming up with an auction item! Contact Sue via fundraiser@gkhat.ca.

RCR Waivers

GKHAT recommends that you connect with RCR to process your season pass quickly. Be sure to complete the RCR waivers.
This is particularly important for families that would like to take advantage of Nakiska, as your season pass will work there until Kicking Horse opens up.
If you have not yet received an email from RCR regarding your pass and waivers, be sure to contact them.

BC Alpine Waivers

Keep an eye out for the BC Alpine waivers. We will be activating those this month. You should receive an email once we do. To complete your waiver, go to bcalpine.com and click on “Member Login”. It’s located in the center left of the page. When you sign the waiver, be sure to complete it for yourself and all the athletes. In this case “yourself” is the primary parent that you assigned the parent insurance to. If you encounter any problems, please email registrar@gkhat.ca to get help. These must be completed before your child can ski!
