COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
As a result of the ongoing changes in provincial requirements, and in the interest of safety for all participants of the GKHAT program(s), the GKHAT board has approved the following policies:
- Coaches: All GKHAT coaches will require proof of vaccination. Vaccination adds an extra layer of protection for coaches and athletes for situations where it is not possible to physically distance/mask while working with athletes.
- Parents/Volunteers: All parents participating on-snow and in close proximity to athletes will require proof of vaccination, for the same reasons stated above. This will apply to tail-gunners (mini and otherwise), and some race volunteer positions where social distancing from athletes is not possible or lift sharing is required.
- Athletes: Athletes will not be required to provide any proof of vaccinations. Due to the large number of ineligible athletes, we feel that this is difficult to implement and mandate.
Proof of vaccination is considered to be one of three options:
- Proof that you have received both vaccinations as recommended by the province.
- Proof of a medical exemption.
- Proof of a negative COVID test with the previous 72 hours to participation
Please note we welcome all athletes in the program regardless of parental vaccination status and we will be happy to provide volunteer opportunities which do not require parental vaccination.
These policies may change during the season due to the evolving pandemic, provincial sport and BC Alpine guidelines as well as board discretion regarding club safety. We will communicate any changes to the above policy as promptly as possible.
Thank you for your support during this challenging time in youth sport.
