As I am sure many of you are aware, this week, RCR issued a statement regarding mandatory vaccinations for skiers 12+ this season (2021.22 Winter Operations - Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (kickinghorseresort.com)
. Today, BC Alpine also released a requirement for athletes 13 years and older to be vaccinated in order to train and race this season (BC Alpine COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccine Policy for Competition Season 2021-22.docx (sharepoint.com)
The board understands that these policies will preclude some families from participating in skiing this winter.
At this time, the club is offering program fee refunds to participants who are not able to participate in skiing at KHMR this winter minus the cost of administration (5%) up to November 17th.
Please also note that the COVID-19 vaccine rollout is planned for children aged 5-11 during the winter, and there is a possibility that athletes in this age group may also fall under a vaccine mandate in the coming months. At this time, we do not have direction from the ski resort, the province, or BC Alpine about potential future policy, but if your child is aged 5-11, please be aware that they may be affected by a potential mandate through the course of the ski season. Therefore, younger children are also eligible for refunded program fees if families are concerned they may become ineligible to ski through the course of the winter. However, After November 17th we will not be able to refund program fees for individuals who cannot ski under a vaccine mandate.
GKHAT is committed to comply with health and safety regulations as laid out by the province, the ski hill, and our provincial association. Our club aims to continue to prioritize safety while providing the highest quality ski programming through the pandemic. We also value each and every ski family and hope we will all be skiing together soon.
If you have submitted a medical exemption for your child through the RCR program, please notify the board to request an extension of the refund deadline while your request is processed.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions regarding this policy at email@example.com
Wishing you the best,
