U8 Program (Birth Year 2018 - 2019)

The GKHAT U8 program is for skiers who want to develop strong skiing skills, have fun with their friends, and learn through a combination of race training environments, race events, and all mountain skiing. 

We want to spark the ski racing fire in our young skiers! Safety, technical skills, tactics, focus, athleticism, and team spirit are all key components of what we aim to develop in this program to make great skiers who love skiing, and have a strong foundation in ski racing. 

Through the season we host 2-3 GKHAT club race events which are a part of this program.  In addition, athletes have the option to travel to other local hills for Nancy Greene Festivals and races hosted by our neighbouring clubs. These events are always a fun addition to the season and can help develop team spirit and a love for the sport.

• Age Requirement:
  • U8's must have a birth year of 2018-2019
• Prerequisite: 
  • U8 skiers must be able to ski comfortably and independently on steep intermediate terrain (Silver Lining, Show-off, etc), and should have some experience in some steeper ungroomed terrain (ie. Think twice, Bowl Over).  
• Weeks: 12
• Hours on Snow: 72
• Program Dates:
  • Program Start Date: Dec 12-14, 2025.
  • Program End Date: March 6-8, 2026
• Program Options: Can choose a 1 day or 2 day program as follows:

  • Saturday Program
  • Sunday Program
  • Friday/Saturday 2-Day Program
  • Friday/Sunday 2-Day Program
  • Saturday/Sunday 2-Day Program
• Daily Start/End Times: 9:00 am - 2:30 pm
• Location:
  • Program based at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Start and End meeting location is at the GKHAT Yurt located behind the day lodge. 
• Kicking Horse Hosted Race Events:
  • Annual GKHAT cookie cup.
  • Annual club year-end ski-tacular event.

Cost (1 day fee): $755.00

Cost (2 day fee): $1162.50

Not included in Program Fees: Equipment, Lift passes/tickets, Race Entry fees/costs.  

Additional Fees: BC Alpine fees (charged once per family and once per athlete)
