For Ages 13 and 14

The GKHAT Ski Academy Program runs from September to June, and is designed for skiers who want to be the best skiers they can be, learn what it takes to train at a competitive level, and build the skills needed to be a high level skier in any discipline. It is scheduled to fit alongside the Grade 8/9 timetable at Golden Secondary School. During the preseason and postseason there will be 3 hrs / week training spent on strength & conditioning, athletic literacy, team building and more.

As soon as it is possible we will get on snow for two afternoons / week (during school weeks, i.e. not Christmas or March break). On snow training will include time on technical ski improvement, racing & gates environments, and all-mountain skiing.

The cost of the program includes coaching and does not include things such as equipment, lift tickets, BC Alpine fees, parent insurance, or other activities with their own costs (e.g. travel and transport).

This program is for athletes aged 13 and 14 that would like to add weekday skiing to their ski racing or freestyle weekend training programs. There will be two afternoons of skiing during Kicking Horse's winter season.

A minimum of seven (7) participants are required.
The program will run for a total of 38 weeks over the school season.

BC Alpine Insurance

Athletes will require either the standard BC Alpine insurance of the National Competitors card. Use the National Competitor card if your athlete intends to race in competitions and would like to accumulate points to position them for Provincial races.

Parents will also require BC Alpine insurance.
