Are you interested in getting more involved with GKHAT? 

We have many roles available with variable degrees of time commitment and requirements for skiing. We welcome anyone with or without past experience in ski racing or volunteer organizations.

Board Membership

Monthly commitment to virtual meetings with tasks specific to your area carried out between meetings. Click HERE for the full list of board positions and their descriptions.

Non-board Positions/Opportunities:

Non-board positions are mostly focused around a specific area where volunteers are needed. This may be for an event or support for races. A great way to help out without the commitment to monthly board meetings.

• Race planning committee 

• Race positions (no experience required!)

• Timing

• Gates

• Social/gatherings 

Fall Ski Swap Organizing Committee: To make our annual fall ski swap a success we need volunteers to join our planning committee. We also need additional volunteers to help run the event as we get closer to the fall. Please contact fundraising@gkhat.ca if you are interested in volunteering for this event. 

Fall Online Auction Organizers: We will need 2-3 people in both Golden and Calgary and the area to help with securing auction items (which can include writing letters to various businesses remotely), coordinating their movement to where they need to go, writing, editing the auction and helping to promote it once it’s live. Please contact fundraising@gkhat.ca if you are interested in volunteering for this event. 

Current Volunteer Needs

We need parent volunteers to: 

• Join or lead the Yurt Replacement Planning Committee (see below) 

YURT PLANNING COMMITTEE - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 

Are you knowledgeable about building and construction? If so, GKHAT needs you! Did you know that we have a Yurt Planning Committee? Our current yurt structure is at the end of its lifespan, and we have a group of volunteers looking at what the future of our club’s building might look like.  We are in need of someone with construction/building knowledge who could help lead the planning on this committee. We are also in need of members interested in helping shape this work even if you don’t have construction knowledge. Get in touch with president@gkhat.ca if you are interested in this.
